Greeting Brothers,

It’s nice to finally be the bearer of glad tidings for a change as several brothers of our lodge have met with good fortune. I briefly mentioned last week that RW Mike Dodge would be tying the knot soon and to wish him and his fiancée Grace good luck for their future together. Well, another brother of Putnam 46 actually did get married this weekend. Bro. Peter Baskin married his fiancée Sheryl on Sunday in the lodge he is affiliated with in Houston, Texas. Everyone raise your glasses please….L’Chaim!

The next piece of good news comes from my own tribe and involves my oldest son Daniel and his lady, Kristi. Late Friday evening, May the 4th, little Riley was born just before midnight and her brother Camden arrived about a half an hour later on May the 5th. Mom and kids are doing great and are already at home in Old Lyme. As a new grandfather, I feel compelled to spoil these kids rotten and this will be a duty I attack with grim determination.

This Sunday was our annual Mother’s Day Breakfast which we schedule a week before the actual Mom’s Day. Our new stove was put to the test by Bro. Dave O cooking bacon, sausage and home fries to feed the many moms and their families that arrived throughout the morning. SD Matt Cunningham organized the event, assembled a great crew, and kept everyone on an even keel as we sailed the seas of breakfast. Huge thanks to Bro. Matt for getting this done. Kudos to the crew for your hard work also: WB Cary Bentley, WB Barry Shead, Bro. Russ Mayhew, Bro. Dave Oleszewski, Bro. DJohn Watkins, WB Ken Richards, Bro. Gary Watson, JW Tim Loomis, SW Fred Pierce, Ladies Chandra, Angela, Deb F. and Connie. Thank you one and all, and if I missed anyone please kick me in the shin next time you see me and I’ll rectify.

I will be visiting Moriah 15 on Wednesday the 9th and Corner Stone-Quinebaug 122 on Friday the 11th if anyone is interested in traveling local.

The next big event fundraiser is our Spring BBQ set to take place on Saturday, May 26th, 4:00pm to 6:00pm, pick-up only. Tickets are $12 each for Pork, Brisket or Turkey and are at the lodge for purchase or sign-out to sell.
